The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the future of their young full-back, Tom Pearce, this morning amid interest from Premier League clubs. According to Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post, the club are looking to begin talks with the 20-year-old who’s current contract expires in June.

Everton and Bournemouth have both been linked with the promising young full-back, who made five appearances for The Whites as he broke into the first-team picture at the end of the season, although Leeds are prepared to offer the player a longer-term package with an increased salary. Despite the links, the Elland Road faithful have reportedly had no contact from either Dean Court or Goodison Park, with the Yorkshire club looking likely to retain their man.
Luckily for the club, Pearce is the only senior player whose contract is expiring this summer, after they managed to agree a two-year deal with their player of the year, Pablo Hernandez. Not having to worry about contracts could give Paul Heckingbottom a head-start in the transfer window and with Carpi’s young Nigerian-born striker, Jerry Mbakogu, being on the club’s wishlist it could be a matter of time before the club move to activate the £3 million deal they’ve agreed with the Serie B side.

The Pearce situ is a tricky one, they should have tied contract up 6 months ago and could have done so for a relatively small salary I suspect. Now he’s had 1st team exposure & other suitors they’ll probably have to offer him more than they want to in order to keep him
