Birmingham City: Fans show disappointment over Jefferson Montero’s injury

Birmingham City have confirmed that Jefferson Montero will be out of action for ‘several weeks’.

The winger, on loan from Swansea, was forced off after 29 minutes of the 2-1 win against Stoke City – which was his first start for the club – due to a thigh injury, with scans revealing a problem with the muscle:

Injury update on Blues duo.@JeffMONTERO23 faces several weeks out with a thigh problem, having been forced off early in last Saturday’s win over the Potters.

The signs are far from encouraging, with many Blues naturally left disappointed by the news coming out of the club.

Looking at his recent career there were signs that this could happen, as before this lay off the Ecuador international had spent a total of 341 days unavailable due to injury since the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign, as per Transfermarkt.

This certainly ends any excitement caused by the 30-year-old’s debut, when he came on for the last 10 minutes of the Blues’ 1-0 victory over Barnsley, in which he made one key pass and three dribbles, with the latter being the joint-highest of anyone on the pitch, as per WhoScored.

That’s why this was an appalling signing, the guy can never stay fit and it’s been proven for years. Might as well send him back now.
