Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to seeing what Unai Emery can bring to the team and will want to see the new manager to bring a number of additions to the side.
The Gunners were handed an opening day fixture at home to Premier League Champions Manchester City, throwing the Spaniard straight into the deep end at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the former Paris Saint-Germain manager has been busy making a number of additions this summer but it looks as though he may have hit a stumbling block in his efforts to strengthen the side.
According to Le10Sport, Arsenal have had a £20million bid for Chelsea’s David Luiz rejected and have yet to come back for an improved offer for the Brazil international. The defender has been frozen out of the Blues side this season and is thought to need to move once again to resurrect his career, unless Antonio Conte leaves the club.
Landlord’s Verdict
Luiz would be a great signing for the Gunners if they were to complete it, however, it would remain to be seen if Chelsea would be willing to sell to one of their main rivals. The defender would immediately improve the Arsenal side defensively, as well as being able to create a couple of opportunities for the front men.
He’ss got years of game time behind him, and his experience of winning the Premier League title could help Arsenal in their quest to do the same.
