The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that Steven Gerrard has secured Jamie Murphy as his third permanent signing at Ibrox. 28-year-old Murphy joined Rangers on-loan in January and his performances have convinced Gerrard and the club to secure his services permanently ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. Jamie Murphy will join Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor as the club’s first signings in the Steven Gerrard era and the fans will be hoping that they can be just the first of many players recruited to turn things around at Ibrox as the club look to chase down Celtic next season. With Murphy on side full-time, that job should be made much easier, as the winger’s contributions in the second-half of last season pulled them through some tough games.
The ex-Brighton and Hove Albion man only managed to make 11 Scottish Premier League appearances for the Gers, although he wasted no time in making his mark, scoring four goals and registering a further five assists, despite being a winger. Next season promises to be a good one for the Gers, with Jamie Murphy and Daniel Candeias tearing down either wing, giving full-backs headaches up and down the country.
