Bournemouth are reportedly weighing up a move for Huddersfield Town midfielder Philip Billing.
Billing, however, did hint to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet (via the Bournemouth Echo) earlier this year that he could try something new after six years in English football.
“I have been in Huddersfield for a long time, so this summer it is time to try a new challenge,” Billing said. “I’ll try something new. The Premier League is great and I love the English football culture. I know there is interest from others in the UK and abroad.”
Howe, however, should try to keep him in England; the Denmark U21 international could really bring some more steel to Bournemouth’s midfield.
For example, he averaged 2.7 tackles per game in the Premier League last season, which was more than any other Bournemouth midfielder (minimum of 10 games played as per WhoScored).
To put that into perspective, Dan Gosling came the closest with 2.3. With 2 per game, Billing also made more interceptions than his counterparts at the Vitality Stadium.
Besides someone like Jefferson Lerma, who averaged 1.8 interceptions, Billing could help give Howe a real solid double pivot for the upcoming season.
If the Bournemouth boss is looking for someone who can make tackles and read play, then Billing might just be his man.
