Brighton & Hove Albion enjoyed a promising yet somewhat inconsistent 2024/25 season under new boss Fabian Hürzeler.
The Seagulls finished a respectable 8th place in the Premier League, turning heads with their exciting, attacking brand of football that delighted fans and pundits alike.
However, despite flashes of brilliance, Brighton’s slide in form towards the business end of the season highlighted the need for a squad overhaul. The summer will be a critical period of rebuilding to maintain momentum and challenge higher up the table next year.
They have already waved goodbye to several key players. The biggest blow came with the departure of João Pedro, who completed a £60 million move to Chelsea and immediately made his mark by scoring in the Club World Cup final.
Simon Adingra also left for Sunderland, while promising full-back Valentín Barco has moved on, signalling that Brighton’s squad is undergoing significant change.
On the recruitment front, Brighton have moved swiftly to bolster their ranks, bringing in exciting talents such as Charalampos Kostoulas, Maxim De Cuyper, Diego Coppola, and Tom Watson.
But with the summer transfer window still open, it’s clear that more changes are on the horizon.
Brighton In Discussions to Sell Striker Evan Ferguson

According to top Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Brighton are currently in talks with AS Roma over the potential sale of striker Evan Ferguson.
The Republic of Ireland international made a dazzling breakthrough in the 2022/23 season, netting 10 goals as a teenager and earning high praise, including being dubbed a “superstar” by former Premier League defender and pundit Micah Richards.
However, since that explosive start, Ferguson’s progress has stalled. He managed just six goals in 34 league appearances the following season and scored only once in 15 games during the first half of 2024/25 before being loaned out to West Ham. His loan spell proved frustrating, as he failed to find the net in eight appearances.
Now, Ferguson appears surplus to requirements at Brighton despite the early promise he showed.
Di Marzio reports that Ferguson has agreed personal terms with Roma, with the Italian side negotiating a transfer fee with Brighton. The Seagulls are asking for around £39 million for the striker’s buyout option, but Roma are aiming to pay less.
If Brighton can secure a fee near that figure, it would represent a shrewd piece of business, especially given Ferguson’s recent struggles — funds that could be reinvested into strengthening the squad ahead of the new campaign.
