After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Graham Potter’s side once again find themselves fighting for survival, and the head coach has some serious work in the transfer windows ahead of him if the South Coast side are to climb their way up the table in the future.

Brighton Transfer Records

Brighton’s chairman Tony Bloom broke the club’s transfer record multiple times last summer, signing Neal Maupay, Adam Webster and Leandro Trossard in quick succession, and has been rewarded with mixed performances since their arrivals in Sussex.

The 22-year-old moved to the coast from Brentford for £19.8m in August, and despite being given plenty of opportunities, the Frenchman has only found the back of the net eight times in the English top flight this term.

Bloom is a lifelong Albion fan and harbours long-term ambitions of turning the club into a competitive top ten team. The owner has shown he isn’t afraid to make cutthroat decisions after pulling the trigger on former boss Chris Hughton due to a slump in form.

Iranian international Alireza Jahanbakhsh takes fourth place on the list of most expensive arrivals, and the least said about out-of-favour forward Jurgen Locadia, the better.

Famous Brighton Transfers

It would be unfair to talk about famous Brighton transfers without mentioning Glenn Murray. The 33-year-old has turned out to be an absolute bargain since arriving from Bournemouth and firmly established his status as a cult hero with the loyal fanbase.

The AMEX Stadium has witnessed a number of talented ballers step out onto the turf over the years, including Bobby Zamora, who only cost £900k upon his return to the Falmer ground, Ashley Barnes, and Leonardo Ulloa. The Argentine made an instant impact in England and became the first player to bag a hat-trick at the new venue.

Albion have another exciting talent on their hands in the form of former Chelsea youngster Tariq Lamptey. The 19-year-old has shown glimpses of his electric pace and technical ability this season, and his versatility could prove to be a decisive factor in the future.

Biggest Brighton Rumours

Academy graduate Ben White has impressed on-loan at Championship side Leeds United and chief executive Paul Barber will have a difficult time in fending off multiple suitors from across the country.

Lewis Dunk has once again led from the back and has been an action man all over the pitch. Potter will be eager to tie the captain to a new contract and shore up a leaky defence. Notably, the Seagulls are in the running to land Dion Sanderson.

Albion desperately need a striker who can at least reach double figures and face stiff competition from other English rivals to sign CSKA Moscow striker Fyodor Chalov.

Keep up to date with all of Brighton’s transfer rumours on the Transfer Tavern as the summer window approaches.
