‘Brilliant stuff’ – Life gets better for Tottenham fans on Twitter after today’s big reports

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story from football.london that claims Dele Alli is set to be the next in line to follow in Harry Kane’s footsteps as the club lineup a bumper contract that will see him paid around £100,00 per week. The England international will travel to Russia with the rest of the England squad tomorrow but should have his contract announced in the coming weeks.

Dele Alli has become a victim of his own success this season. The 22-year-old wonderkid has scored 14 goals in his 50 games for Spurs this season, including braces against both Real Madrid and Chelsea. However, the midfielder scored ten goals in his debut season and then followed that up with an incredible 22 goals in the 2016/17 season and fans had expected him to kick on and improve on that figure.

Whilst this year has been one of highs and lows for Dele, the player can only be proud of his achievements so far. At the age of just 22, he’s stepped up from League One to the Premier League and scored 37 league goals in three seasons putting him 6th overall on the list of top scorers in that period, behind only Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, Alexis Sanchez, Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku, five of the Premier League’s most clinical finishers.

Dele Alli is the future of both of Spurs and the national team and for Spurs to tie him down to a big contract is crucial, however, they have to be sure that they’re paying him the going rate if they’re serious about keeping him in North London.
