Burnley are set to battle Bundesliga side Wolfsburg for the signature of Norwich striker Josh Sargent. Sky Sports reported that both clubs are in talks for the player, who Norwich value in the region of £20m.
Talks for the USA international are ongoing with both clubs, but neither have matched the valuation at this stage. Sargent has three years remaining on contract, so Norwich are in a strong position and under no pressure to sell.
Italian side Roma also showed interested in the player last month, but did not follow up with any concrete offer. Sargent scored 15 goals and contributed 5 assists in all competitions for Norwich last season, earning a place in the Championship Team of the Season.
Newly promoted Burnley are preparing for a return to the Premier League after a three year hiatus. Scott Parker’s side have already added six time Premier League winner Kyle Walker to their ranks and are now looking for attacking reinforcements.
Sargent on the radar of Burnley

Sargent has been one of the Championship’s most consistent goal scorers since joining Norwich in 2022. He has scored 44 goals through 98 Championship appearances for the Canaries.
A move to the Premier League has been rumoured for quite some time now, with the player growing in stature in each season. The player’s asking price remains a stumbling block however, with interested clubs so far reluctant to meet Norwich’s demands.
Norwich boss Liam Manning has admitted that interest in Sargent is “natural” following another strong campaign. Manning has praised Sargent’s professionalism amid increased speculation surrounding his future, and did not rule out a departure for the player.
Speaking to BBC, Manning said this about Sargent; “he’s top, you see that, you see what he’s done in the division, but the consequence of that is naturally he’s going to be linked with clubs at a higher level.”
“We’ll have to see how that pans out but I can’t speak highly enough of how he’s applied himself in training and how he’s gone about it.”
Norwich have already seen another key man depart the club this summer, in Borja Sainz who scored 18 goals last season and has since completed a move to Porto for £14.25m. The Canaries are under no pressure to allow Sargent to follow Sainz to the exit and are likely to stand firm in their evaluation.
