Celtic: Bhoys eyeing Jonjoe Kenny as Jeremie Frimpong replacement

Celtic are looking to bring Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny to Parkhead, according to reports.

Kenny to fill Frimpong’s shoes?

The 23-year-old right-back returned from a loan spell at Bundesliga side Schalke where he found himself to be a regular in Germany, scoring twice and providing three assists in 34 appearances.

However, this has not been enough to convince manager Carlo Ancelotti, with Kenny only making four Premier League outings this season.

According to The Times journalist Paul Joyce, Celtic are keen to take advantage of his exile at Goodison Park and bring him in on loan until the end of the season.

Neil Lennon recently lost right-back Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen and it appears that the Irish tactician is keen to bring Kenny in to fill his boots.

Transfer Tavern Verdict

We think this would be a solid move for Celtic, and one that could be for the future if an option to buy is presented to them.

Valued at £6.3m by TransferMarkt, there is a possibility that the Bhoys could grab themselves a bargain if transfer chief Nick Hammond plays his cards right. With plenty of experience under his belt in the Bundesliga, he could fit into the right-back role at Celtic perfectly.

That being said, there is not much time to get this deal over the line and the Hoops must move quickly to get this done.
