Celtic fans on Twitter delighted with James Forrest contract extension

Celtic have secured the long-term future of James Forrest at the club with the 27-year-old recently putting pen to paper on a new four-year contract.

Forrest’s new deal will take his tenure as a Celtic player into 2022, and the winger has spoken of his delight over the extension.

“From the first moment that I knew Celtic wanted to extend my deal, I knew this was what I wanted to do and there’s no other place for me,” Forrest told Celtic’s official club website.

“It’s unbelievable when you think about how long I’ve been here. Coming through the Youth Academy, all I wanted to do was make my debut in the first-team, and I was able to do that, but I could never think then that I’d go on to play the number of games that I have.

“I’m 27 now and I want to keep working hard, play as many games as I can and contribute as much as I can to this club.”

Forrest’s contract extension can only been seen as a positive development. The £2.25m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Scotland international is becoming an increasingly important figure for manager Brendan Rodgers after managing to score 17 goals in all competitions last season.
