Celtic find themselves not in the best of positions going into their second-leg clash against AEK Athens in the third qualifying round of the Champions League tomorrow.
Brendan Rodgers’ men are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Hearts in the SPL, while trouble has also been brewing off pitch this week.
The agent of central defender Dedryck Boyata has stated his client is ready to go to war with Celtic after a £9m bid from Fulham was rejected before the transfer window in England shut.
Quoted on talkSPORT, Boyata’s agent Jacques Lichtenstein said: “Dedryck cannot put his future and his family’s future in danger by playing without being 100 per cent. On January 1, he will sign elsewhere by being free, without reporting anything to Celtic.”
Celtic, undoubtedly, are in an unfavourable scenario with Boyata’s contract set to expire next summer and should look to sell the £1.8m-rated (via Transfermarkt) 27-year-old this transfer window rather than keep an uncommitted player in their ranks.
Have a look at what Celtic supporters are saying on Boyata’s future at Celtic Park below…
I would have driven him down to craven cottage myself for 9 million.

Makes even more of a mockery selling @eriksviat who done a much better job for me and was committed to @CelticFC

With our club going thorough enough this week who does the guy think he is? The amount of mistakes he has made. If it wasn’t for Rodgers he wouldn’t be the player he is!! Pure disrespect to him and our club HH

The whole debacle has to be affecting the dressing room… if he wants to go let him. The team have bigger things to be thinking about..

He isn't near as good as he thinks he is. Take the cash for him & get a decent centre half in.

Spot on Chris. Personally think £5m is more than enough for him. As you said he was/is a bomb scare. Too big for his boots after a couple of mediocre games at the World Cup.
