A number of Celtic fans have been reacting to news of an approach for top scorer Odsonne Edouard from Monaco.
As reported by Get French Football News and shared by @celticbible on Twitter, the French Ligue 1 club had made an approach for the 22-year-old, only for the Hoops to flatly reject their advances as they have no intention of letting him leave in January. The report also claimed that the French striker is keen to remain at Parkhead for at least the remainder of the season, with the Scottish champions being run close by Rangers in the Premiership title race.

Edouard has found the net 19 times for Celtic so far this term and he demonstrated his importance to Neil Lennon’s side by scoring twice within five minutes of coming off the bench in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Ross County. His form for the Hoops had seen him attract attention not just from Monaco but also Leicester (as per Daily Record), Napoli (as per Daily Mail) and Borussia Dortmund (as per Sky.de‘s Man Bielefeld, via Sport Witness) in recent months.
Upon hearing of Monaco’s approach for the striker, these Celtic fans seemed concerned about the prospect of him leaving despite the Hoops rejecting the Ligue 1 club’s advances:
Eddy is irreplaceable right now, wouldn’t take any amount of money for him this month 💚

Unimaginable to even think about him going this month. If he did then Lawwell might as well clean out his desk because it would cost us the title.

Anything below €35M is unacceptable

Were Celtic right to reject Monaco’s interest out of hand? Do you think he will be tempted away from Parkhead in the summer, if not this month? Comment below with your views!
