Journalist Andrew Smith has confirmed that David Turnbull has returned to Celtic training this week, The Scotsman report.

The Lowdown: Postecoglou’s comments

As we know, Turnbull is yet to feature for the Hoops in 2022 after suffering a serious hamstring injury in the Scottish League Cup final back in December.

Thankfully, Turnbull and Kyogo Furuhashi’s long spell on the sidelines haven’t been season-defining, with Ange Postecoglou’s side actually picking up 28 points from a possible 30 this calendar year.

They now have a three-point lead over rivals Rangers, with Postecoglou admitting last week that the plan was for Turnbull to return to the pitches at Lennoxtown this week.

The Latest: Smith’s claim

Smith shared a story on The Scotsman on Wednesday evening, looking at how Furuhashi's eventual return will give the club a massive boost.

The journalist touched on Turnbull’s situation though, confirming that the 22-year-old has returned to full training at Lennoxtown this week.

The Verdict: Huge boost

Smith’s reveal is a huge boost for the Hoops, and will possibly be a relief for some fans, who may have been fearing the worst due to there being no official update on the attacking midfielder this week.

It seems as if all is well with Turnbull, though, with Postecoglou refusing to rule the player out of this weekend’s game with Ross County last week.

He may decide to ease him back in, and with an international break around the corner, his first appearance back could come at Ibrox against Rangers.
