Celtic: Key update on Robbie Brady emerges

Celtic: Key update on Robbie Brady emerges -Celtic News

Celtic-linked Robbie Brady is now ’emerging’ as an option for Championship side Bournemouth, according to The Telegraph (via The Daily Record).

The lowdown

The Glasgow Times reported last month that Celtic Park was a possible destination for the Irish free agent after links over the summer, with Ange Postecoglou even commenting on the winger during the transfer window.

He’s been without a club since reaching the end of his contract at English Premier League side Burnley at the end of 2020/21.

Brady has made 160 top-flight appearances south of the border, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists (via Transfermarkt).

Danny Mills said Celtic had ‘a real chance of getting a real quality player’ if they made a move.

Gabriel Agbonlahor, on the other hand, expressed concerns about Brady’s form and fitness.

The latest

Bournemouth are now said to be deciding whether to offer Brady a contract.

Scott Parker apparently wants short-term cover amid the absence of David Brooks.

The verdict

The fact that we’re in mid-October and Brady still hasn’t found a new club suggests potential suitors share Agbonlahor’s worries.

He’s a player of immense experience, but clearly that alone hasn’t been enough.

Indeed, it took unforeseen circumstances for him to come under consideration at Bournemouth.

Celtic may feel that they are already well-stocked on the left flank. They brought in Jota on loan during the summer and Kyogo Furuhashi can play there too.

In other news, as many as five Celtic players are closing in on a return.
