Celtic journalist Kieran Devlin has been stunned by the 'transformation' in Liel Abada in recent weeks.

The lowdown

The Israeli forward has been in electric form since the Premiership resumed following the winter break, with five goals and assists in four starts since the league's resumption. For context, he had only managed four direct goal contributions in his last 12 appearances prior to the interlude.

On Sunday, Abada scored one goal and set up two more in just 45 minutes of action as Celtic routed Motherwell 4-0 at Fir Park, making it three successive matches in which he has got on the scoresheet (Transfermarkt).

The latest

With Celtic 3-0 up at half time, Devlin wrote on The Athletic's matchday discussion boards that Abada's upturn in form had been 'astonishing' to an extent whereby the 20-year-old has made himself 'undroppable'.

The journalist gushed: "Playing well, three great goals. Transformation in Abada since the winter break has been astonishing. He's always had the goals, but his all-round game has improved dramatically. His final ball, one-touch football, take-ons in one-v-ones, all so, so much better. Undroppable at the moment."

The verdict

As noted by Devlin, Abada has indeed been offering more than just goals in his most recent outings. For instance, he has created three chances in both of his last two games, significantly better than his overall 2021/22 average of 1.8 key passes per 90 minutes.

He can still improve when it comes to 'take-ons' though, having won just two of the nine ground duels he contested over the course of the matches against Rangers and Motherwell.

Nonetheless, Abada's recent purple patch has underlined his potential, and Celtic fans should be excited. As talent scout Jacek Kulig tweeted on Sunday afternoon, 'what a transfer this was for The Bhoys'.

In other news, talks are ongoing over this potential signing for Celtic
