Former Aberdeen striker Noel Whelan heaped praise on Celtic‘s Ryan Christie after his performance for Scotland as his goal helped them advance to Euro 2020.

Speaking to Football Insider before this afternoon’s clash against Slovakia, Whelan gushed over the Neil Lennon’s boy, who Chris Sutton described as a “manager’s dream” after the game in mid-week,

“It was a fantastically well-taken goal as well and just scoring goals gives you that confidence and belief back into your game and into yourself.
“With the magnitude of the goal and the game itself, to keep that kind of concentration and that that mental strength throughout the whole game, I’m very sure that he will take that into domestic football.
“He’ll have that grit in his teeth and know that to go to the euros you need to perform week in, week out to be chosen for that tournament.”

It was a memorable night for Christie and Whelan’s words encapsulate what a talent he is, both physically and mentally.
Christie is an essential player for Lennon and has already scored three goals from 11 appearances in the Premiership this season (TransferMarkt), and will be provided with a huge morale boost after the events in Belgrade.
The Parkhead faithful will be excited to see him back in a green and white shirt once more as they face Hibernian in their next game and they’ll be hoping that they will see similar performances for his club.
