Celtic: Odsonne Edouard will surely begin to attract interest elsewhere

Edouard

To win over the Celtic fans, one needs to perform in the Old Firm derby.

Well, on Sunday afternoon, the excellent Odsonne Edouard extended his legend at Celtic Park. When the Hoops needed a source of inspiration, the 21-year-old leapt into action to be their saviour from humiliation.

As if his stunning effort against the Gers last season wasn’t enough, the star signing from Paris Saint-Germain’s proving to be worth every penny and further raised his stock with an amazing performance in the Old Firm derby. He pounced into action right from the get-go, almost scoring in the early minutes itself. However, when allowed space to run into, he proved his brilliant ability by racing past defenders to give them the lead.

As the club’s record signing (as per Transfermarkt) the Frenchman is proving he was worth the investment from Peter Lawwell and the decision makers behind the scenes in Paradise, as well as for every Bhoy reading this.

It was, however, when under pressure where he proved to be more than a meagre goal-scorer. Unselfishly, he sought out James Forrest, showcasing impressive eyesight to find out his partner. In a controversial Old Firm derby, the 21-year-old stood through as the brightest light.

Having scored 19 goals this season, he’s not only Celtic’s highest goal-scorer but also their most potent attacking threat in years. He can dribble through, possess excellent off-the-ball movement and is lethal in the final third. Celtic can sell many players, but losing him is not an option if they want to maintain dominance.

After the Old Firm heroics, multiple sides will surely come for him. He’s now a star. However, it’s now Celtic job’s to convince him of royal treatment to retain his services and allow him to usher them to new heights in the near future.
