Celtic: Bhoys pushing to bring Japhet Tanganga to Parkhead

Celtic are making a late push to sign Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga before Monday’s 11pm transfer deadline, according to reports.
Tanganga to replace Jullien?
The 21-year-old has found himself ostracised from Jose Mourinho’s side following a terrific breakthrough season in North London last year.
Tanganga is yet to make a Premier League appearance during the 2020/21 campaign, but was compared to Irish football legend Paul McGrath by talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino after his breakthrough last term.
With the absence of Christopher Jullien from the Celtic first-team due to a knee injury, Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph revealed that Tanganga is “one of a number” centre-backs that the club are looking to bring in as a short-term replacement.
Shane Duffy has not turned out to be the signing that the supporters wanted, after making more defensive errors during his side’s 2-1 defeat to St Mirren on Saturday.
Celtic are keen on Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga – one of a number of centre-backs the club are looking at on #DeadlineDay.
He will find out later if he’ll be allowed out on loan. Two Premier League clubs are also interested.

Transfer Tavern Verdict
It is a move that will be welcomed by segments of the Parkhead faithful after what has been a forgetful campaign both on, and off the field.
While he remains hugely unpopular, Lennon looks to have taken quick action on the back of their woeful defeat during their last game, in an attempt to iron out the unforced blunders in his side.
The clock is ticking for Lennon and the Hoops must move quickly if they want to secure Tanganga’s services.
