Celtic are out of the running to sign OH Leuven striker Thomas Henry, according to The Daily Record.

The Hoops were first linked with a move for the Frenchman earlier in the month, with reports suggesting Celtic were on the brink of winning the race for Henry’s services.

Rumours of a Scotland switch for Henry cooled, however, they re-emerged after a move to Gent stalled.

Henry, who, according to Lokeren boss Karel Fraeye ‘has a lot of similarities to Jamie Vardy’, now looks set for a move to Italy.

The Latest: Celtic out the running

The Daily Record shared a story on Celtic’s transfer state of play on Tuesday morning.

Within their report, they mentioned Henry and said ‘let’s make it clear, Celtic are currently out the running’ when it comes to the 27-year-old.

They added that a £5.1m move to Serie A side Venezia was in the works, and a move has been completed and announced by the Italian side on Tuesday afternoon.

The Verdict: Giakoumakis preferred?

Ange Postecoglou wants to bring in a forward if Odsonne Edouard leaves, and it seems as if that man could well be VVV-Venlo’s Georgios Giakoumakis.

Celtic appear to be frontrunners when it comes to the Greece international, with Werder Bremen struggling to finance a deal and now looking elsewhere.

It looks set to be a busy final week for Celtic in the transfer window, however, one man who won’t be heading to Scotland is Henry.
