Hibernian youngster Josh Doig has reacted to recent reports linking him with a move to Celtic.
The Bhoys have been looking to bring in a fullback on the back of Jeremie Frimpong’s departure to Bayer Leverkusen earlier in January.
Despite being just 18 years old, Doig has managed to cement a place as a regular in the Hibs’ starting lineup, providing an assist from 15 starts and two outings as a substitute (Whoscored).
Quoted by Sky Sports, Doig was flattered by the eagerness of some clubs to secure his services, including Celtic.
“It’s good to know the hard work I am putting in is giving me that attention from the big clubs,” he said.
“It is crazy for me. I’ve noticed it for a few other players, we’re all over the place,” he said. “It’s good to see when you are working hard all these big names are showing interest.”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
The signing of Doig would show great intent from the Hoops to build for the future as they prepare for the next era of the players coming through in Scotland.
Doig earned high praise from Jack Ross, who described him as an “impressive” player (cited by the Sunderland Echo),
With the transfer deadline just days away, Neil Lennon will have to convince the youngster to join – which we think would be a great addition to the squad.
