Celtic have agreed a season-long loan deal with Queen’s Park for midfielder Luca Connell, according to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph.

The Lowdown: Connell’s Celtic stay

Connell arrived in Glasgow back in 2019 from Bolton Wanderers. The midfielder, who is on £5,000 per week at Parkhead, signed a four-year deal with the Hoops.

He is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Hoops but has made a handful of appearances for the reserve side.

The Liverpool-born midfielder spent part of last season on loan with Queen’s Park, and it seems as if a return to the League One outfit is on the cards for the 20-year-old.

The Latest: McGrath’s tweet

Reliable reporter McGrath took to Twitter on Friday morning to share news regarding Connell. He claimed that an agreement has been reached over a season-long loan move for the Irishman, tweeting:

"Celtic have agreed a deal for Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Luca Connell to join Queen's Park on a season-long loan"

The Verdict: Good news

Connell has struggled to break into the first team plans under both Neil Lennon and Ange Postecoglou, so gaining some senior experience in League One seems to be a wise move.

Spending the majority of the 2021/22 campaign with Queen’s Park will hopefully make him stronger ahead of his Parkhead return, and he’ll know exactly what to expect with the Spiders following last season’s stint.
