Celtic’s move for OH Leuven striker Thomas Henry could be back on, according to The Scottish Sun’s Mark Walker.

The Lowdown: Celtic’s hunt for a striker

It appears as if the Hoops want to bring in a new forward by the end of the month.

Reports suggested that Celtic were on the brink of winning the race for Henry earlier this month before links to VVV-Venlo’s Georgios Giakoumakis emerged.

They have since been locked in a battle with Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen for the Greece international, with Ange Postecoglou personally calling Giakoumakis over a move.

However, it now seems as if Celtic could well go back in for Henry, following a development on Thursday.

The Latest: Henry update

Walker shared a story on Thursday, revealing a proposed £5.1m transfer involving Henry and Belgian side Gent has stalled.

Giakoumakis was thought to be in Germany to discuss a move to Werder Bremen, with Walker admitting a Celtic swoop for Henry could be back on.

Henry has been described as a 'big Furuhashi' by Bhoys Analytics and was hailed as a ‘complete forward’ by Lokeren boss Karel Fraeye.

The Verdict: One in one out?

It seems to be a case of one or the other when it comes to Henry and Giakoumakis, so it could be a frantic end to the window at Celtic Park.

It could be a wise decision by the club, financially, to land one forward and then cash in on star striker Odsonne Edouard, who is into the final 12 months of his contract.

Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for the Frenchman in recent days, so effectively, the Hoops could use funds brought in for Edouard on a new striker.

Celtic will want to get a move on, though, and not risk missing out on either forward, who could replace the goals they’ll lose in a possible Edouard exit.
