Celtic have been linked with a move for Hibernian forward Martin Boyle, as reported by The Scotsman.

The Lowdown: Boyle profiled

The 28-year-old, who has been on the books at Easter Road since 2015, can play anywhere in attack but is primarily a right winger.

The Australia international has made 263 appearances for Hibs and has contributed to more than 100 goals.

He has enjoyed a fine few months in front of goal during the current campaign - scoring 14 times, with one of those coming against the Hoops - and it now seems as if Ange Postecoglou has his fellow countryman on his January radar.

The Latest: Postecoglou an admirer

The Scotsman shared a story on Saturday morning looking at what the Hoops could do in January following their triple J1 League swoop.

They suggested that Postecoglou is a big admirer of Boyle, who has a £3m price tag and has netted 108 goals during his senior club and international career.

The Verdict: Shrewd move?

Celtic have already bolstered their attacking ranks with the signing of Daizen Maeda, but bringing Boyle to Parkhead could be the icing on the cake.

The Hoops have plenty of attacking options, but the likes of Albian Ajeti, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Mikey Johnston have barely contributed this season when it comes to goals and assists.

Labelled 'energetic' by former Celtic and Hibs boss Neil Lennon, Boyle is a player who already has bundles of Premiership experience and appears to be in his prime with his recent form at the age of 28.

He has been scoring for fun in 2021/22 and who knows, should Ajeti move on with the Hoops keen to cash in, there could be space for Boyle to arrive at Lennoxtown.
