Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern saw their chances of silverware this season shattered at the weekend with a defeat to Everton in the FA Cup and there’s a risk of tears here at the bar, with the possibility a highly-rated ace could leave.
The Daily Mirror state Borussia Monchengladbach are eying a permanent deal for Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen, with the young Dane impressing during a two-year loan with the Bundesliga side.
19-year-old Christensen signed a new long-term deal with Chelsea last summer before moving to German but, halfway through his loan spell, Gladbach boss Andre Schubert confirmed his side are keen on a permanent deal.
“Andreas is a player we have identified in staying here long-term. Hopefully there will be talks between all parties.”
Should Chelsea approve an exit it could cost Gladbach, who were in this season’s Champions League and are battling for a return next term, as much as £4m.
Our landlord feels the player should move away from Chelsea for the benefit of his career, as he can’t see the Blues allowing him to break into the first-team squad.
Chelsea fans, would you accept Christensen’s departure? Let us know in the comments below!
