According to The Bristol Post, Man City are interested in signing Swansea defender Joe Rodon.
The Wales under-21 centre back has been a star player for the south Wales club so far this season, and interest from big clubs was inevitable. Being a very capable ball player, he would be well suited under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, and would want that move to progress his career.
However, these are very ominous signs for The Swans, which can only be remedied by getting promoted this summer.
Of course, whenever a team is relegated, they will inevitably lose a few players that will stay in the division above. But Graham Potter was able to keep hold of a number of his stars. However, if the club do not secure promotion this season, there could be a greater exodus this summer.
For example, if star striker Wilfried Bony is able to show some of the form that he has displayed over the past few seasons when he returns from injury, The Swans may find it very hard to keep hold of him.
Whilst Rodon is a young player at 20 years old, and wasn’t necessarily going to leave the club at the end of last season having never played for the team, this may still be an indication of the way in which Premier League outfits will try and pilfer The Swans’ best talent.
There is only one solution to this; get promoted. Potter’s men sit in seventh place in the Championship at the moment and are improving week on week, so that is not beyond the realms of possibility.
