Charlton fans are reflecting on Joe Gomez’s career with Liverpool and are proud of their academy graduate.
Following a post from the official Charlton Twitter account, Addicks supporters are debating who is the best player to come through the club’s academy system.

The 22-year-old broke through his boyhood club’s youth ranks in 2014 before being snapped up by Premier League giants Liverpool the following year. Gomez joined the Reds for a £3.5million fee (via BBC Sport) and has gone on to become an almost untouchable asset in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The centre-back has enjoyed being an integral part in Liverpool’s sixth Champions League win, as well as partnering Virgil van Dijk in their runaway Premier League season.
Gomez has recently made his 100th appearance for the Reds, earning his centurion status after five years with the club.
Many Charlton fans are in full agreement that the defender is the stand out player to come out of their academy, with one supporter saying he ‘could be the best’ whilst another suggested he has had an ‘amazing career’ already.

Parker for me as a talent, but he wasted it, Gomez will ultimately be seen as the greater talent because of trophies. An amazing career for such a young lad #madeincharlton
