The Daily Star has certainly caught Manchester United fans’ attention here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Real Madrid could be willing to sell Gareth Bale.

The proposed switch would all be dependent on Eden Hazard joining the La Liga side and as our landlord quite rightly knows, we are not exactly convinced that such a series of events will come to fruition.

According to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, the Blues are set to agree a new long-term contract with the 23-year-old and that is something we think could make things difficult on Real Madrid.

Hazard is a top target for Carlo Ancelotti’s men and it seems that in order to raise the funds for the Belgian international winger, Bale is now up for sale.

That said, given the Welshman’s contribution in Los Blancos’ Champions League winning season last term, we can’t see Real giving up the former Tottenham man so early into his career at the Bernabeu.

Either way, our regulars think this is something to keep our eyes on and Hazard may yet be swayed by the biggest club in the world.
