Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has spoken out about his relationship with Frank Lampard and how he feels he deserves his trust.
In an interview with BT (via Sport Witness), the Denmark international has discussed his current position within the club and his future at Stamford Bridge.

Christensen has had no concrete talks over extending his stay with the Blues past 2022 but he has no intentions of leaving any time soon. Before the break, the 24-year-0ld was rotated a lot and spent 11 games on the bench as an unused substitute, but he has started every league game since the restart (via Transfermarkt).
“I certainly think he [Lampard] is expressing that,” Christensen said on the manager showing trust in him. “So, I can only try to show that I deserve that trust, and I try to do that in every game.”
The Dane joined the club in 2012 when he was just a teenager – he has since risen through the ranks of Chelsea’s setup and established himself as a first team player. His Transfermarkt value currently sits at £21.6m.
He does, however, have competition for his place in the team. Lampard has alternated between Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger as well as 22-year-old Fikayo Tomori, who has recently been completely left out of the squad.

Chelsea’s most recent outing saw them fall to a shock 3-0 defeat against Sheffield United on Saturday. Lampard opted to bring Christensen off at half-time after a poor first half from his team but he centre-half struggled to get into the game and failed to make a single tackle, interception or clearance (via Sofascore).
Christensen will need to work hard to show that he deserves to be one of the first names on the team-sheet and avoid losing his place to the others who are seeking their own opportunities.
