Chelsea have uploaded an Instagram post to honour Diego Costa’s impressive career in blue and many fans are wishing he’d never left the club.
Featuring a photo of the Spaniard holding the Premier League trophy, the club has posted Costa’s stats whilst at Chelsea. Fans are heaping praise on the striker, who certainly enjoyed a glittering stint at Stamford Bridge. In 120 appearances, he netted 58 goals and assisted a further 24, as well as helping the Blues to two top flight titles (via Transfermarkt).
Not only are Chelsea fans reminiscing over Costa’s career, but several are claiming it was a huge mistake from Antonio Conte to let him leave.

The 31-year-old left the London outfit after four years, rejoining former side Atletico Madrid. He returned to Spain for a transfer fee of £57 million (via Sky Sports) and has since scored 15 goals with the La Liga outfit. Costa also enjoyed helping Atletico lift the Super Cup and Europa League titles during the 2017/18 season.
Since the Spain international left the club, Chelsea have struggled to find a reliable and clinical striker. Tammy Abraham has been impressing this season, notching 13 goals in the Premier League and placing himself in the top ten highest scorers for the term (via BBC Sport). However, it wasn’t easy to fill Costa’s boots and it seems fans are still a little bit hurt over his departure, if the replies to this Instagram post are anything to go by.
Chelsea will return to action this week as they prepare to take on Aston Villa on Sunday. The Blues will look to expand on their positive run of form and secure a Champions League spot next campaign.
