Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are more interested in the latest story coming from the Daily Star than they are in the post mortem of the Champions League results.
Given the claims from the outspoken Jose Mourinho, it is little wonder.
The Blues manager has spoken out about Mohamed Salah, and made it clear that despite reports that the player may well struggle to have a future at Stamford Bridge, he will be able to break though into the first team next season.
Mourinho was asked if the talent Chelsea currently boast at their disposal would make it difficult for the former Basel man, but as per usual the Special One has an answer for everything.
“You know, playing at Stamford Bridge is not the same as playing for Basel.” Mourinho claimed.
“So I think Mohamed needs six months to adapt to our game and the demands of the Premier League.
“I am calm and I’m telling him he has time because we have confidence in him. I think next season is Mohamed Salah’s breakthrough season.”
As one of our punters notes, Liverpool were also keen on Salah, yet he opted for Chelsea and will now have to fight for his future. At least, unlike Juan Mata, Mourinho feels he has one.
