Metro have Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern looking a little bit excited as news about Mauro Icardi filters down through to our punters.
The Blues have been admirers of the young Inter Milan forward for some time now and it seems that they are ready to step up their interest and turn it into a concrete £18 million bid with talks underway between the Blues and player’s representatives.
Now as one of our regulars notes over by the pool table, we think that Icardi could be a brilliant addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad.
The Blues will of course be looking for another forward in the summer even if veteran Didier Drogba does decide to stay at the club in a playing capacity for another season.
According to our Blues regulars, Icardi would be perfect given he is so young and still has plenty of room for growth in his game.
Mourinho retains good links with former club Inter and would be happy to tap into these to bring the Argentine international from the San Siro.
