Chelsea have emerged as frontrunners for Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell, and could make a push to try and sign the 22 year-old England defender as early as January if they are cleared to make signings.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the Blues are thought to be leading the chase for the Leicester City left-back and could look to make a move for the 22-year-old as soon as January, should they have the sanctions they are currently under lifted.
Manchester City are understood to have ended their interest in the England international, which has left Frank Lampard’s Chelsea as frontrunners for his signature.
However, it would appear a number of the club’s supporters are not too fond of the idea of signing Chilwell as many do not feel he would be worth the potential transfer fee that the Foxes may demand.
Many of them felt there would be better options available to them if they were looking for a new left-back, whilst others felt Emerson Palmieri was a better defender than him.
Here are just some of their reactions to the transfer rumour…
What’s so good about this guy ??

I’d rather take Nico Schultz or Grimaldo.

We have Emerson Alonso and Ian Maasten
Why spend 70m on Ben?

Much rather get Atal. Probably just as good, still got a lot of potential and would be cheaper.

The money would be better utilized on a top center back

He was worryingly poor against Liverpool, looks fragile in defence at times. I’m starting to think he isn’t that much better than Emerson (if at all) & for £60m+ I’m not so sure he’s worth the investment. Rather go for a Telles to compete with Emerson and use the £ in other areas
