Chelsea fans are loving Diego Costa after Super Cup display

When Chelsea signed Diego Costa, it wouldn’t be hyperbolic to suggest that many Chelsea fans were delighted. The Blues had lacked a lethal number nine, beyond Didier Drogba, for many years, and the likes of Fernando Torres, Andriy Shevchenko and others did little to help things improve.

Costa, though, immediately came in and made a difference. He was lethal for the club, and he adjusted to the Premier League with ease. Strong, physical, and best of all, lethal, the Spaniard was just what the club needed.

However, the Spaniard’s career in London quickly came to an end after Antonio Conte’s first season in charge, with Costa moving back to Atletico Madrid.

That, naturally, left Chelsea with a rather sizeable gap in the squad, and it’s a gap that Alvaro Morata – Costa’s proposed replacement – has yet to fill.

Unsurprisingly, then, Costa’s form over in Spain is always on the mind of Chelsea supporters, and his latest display has left them feeling very jealous, it seems. Costa was on form for Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup on Wednesday, bagging two goals as they beat rivals Real Madrid to win the competition.

Costa was, in many ways, the star of the show, and many Chelsea fans have been heaping praise on him online following the game. They’re a bit jealous, unsurprisingly. Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
