Chelsea: Fans aren’t happy with club’s youth revolution despite league position

Some Chelsea fans aren’t happy with Frank Lampard’s youth movement at the club that has seen a number of homegrown players become first-team players this season.

The Blues were struck with a transfer ban last year meaning that they couldn’t make any signings in the summer window (per The Sun). And whilst this suspension was lifted so Chelsea could bring in new players in January (per BBC Sport), Lampard decided to not make any major signings in the winter market (per Transfermarkt).

Chelsea have been praised this season by pundits for their use of youth players, with Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Reece James all making a name for themselves in the Premier League (per Transfermarkt). But plenty of supporters on social media aren’t happy with Lampard’s reliance on academy players. One fan even said “there is no potential”.

Are Chelsea overrated?

Here’s what Chelsea fans had to say on Twitter about the club’ youth revolution on Twitter…

This isn’t an achievement.

Stop romanticizing the English boys. The best and in form players should be playing not. Miss me the English boys propaganda.

Transfer ban should be extended then. Since y’all are so happy with the youngsters

Simply because they are English you hype them, except Reece James there is no potential in any of those, am not a prophet but I have been in football for so long…say the truth

Is this a trophy or what?

Am a Cfc fan, truth be told Chelsea has a long way to go. Obsession with English players will cost us heavily not that they’re ain’t good but it’s the inexperience that worries me. Bayern will eat us alive both legs I presume…..

All of you have succeeded in ruining this club..
