Loads of Chelsea fans have been left feeling relieved after it was revealed that Reece James has not suffered any serious damage following the injury he picked up in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United over the weekend.
As initially reported by talkSPORT, the 20-year-old only received some minor bruising to his knee after a heavy fall, giving manager Frank Lampard something to be positive about after that disappointing result. After all, James has arguably been the Blues’ “best player” of late, as one supporter put it.
He managed to register an assist in a recent 3-0 win over Burnley and complete three key passes in the 2-0 FA Cup triumph against Nottingham Forest prior (via WhoScored). His average of one cross per game in the Premier League, which only Willian can top with 1.2, really epitomises the attacking threat he can bring from full-back.
