Chelsea fans can be forgiven for being a bit desperate at the moment. Despite the fact they were Premier League champions less than two years ago, they couldn’t look further off of the pace at the moment and their recent 2-0 loss to Liverpool showed that. Defensively, the Blues aren’t what they used to be, and as a result, the fans want David Luiz gone.

David Luiz is currently in his second spell with Chelsea having been resigned by Antonio Conte after Jose Mourinho shipped off to PSG, and whilst the Brazilian was key to their Premier League title in the 2016/17 season, he has since shown to be a liability, and is much more suited to the three at the back system that Conte deployed. The four at the back under Maurizio Sarri just isn’t his game.
It has helped Luiz’s case massively that Cesar Azpilicueta hasn’t been used as a centre-half, otherwise he would have found himself sitting alongside Andreas Christensen and Gary Cahill on the bench and in the reserves. No, instead he’s been used to partner up with Antonio Rudiger, and the German defender has proven to be a much more capable stopper than Luiz, leading to these calls for Luiz to be shipped out.

The Blues aren’t beating around the bush with this one and are just desperate for Luiz to be sold over the summer, with someone more capable of actually defending coming in as a replacement.
