After seeing a lack of game-time under both Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri is now emerging as the Blues’ first choice left-back in Frank Lampard’s new-look side at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian has started all four of Chelsea’s first Premier League matches this term, limiting former mainstay Marcos Alonso to a single minute off the bench against Norwich City a fortnight ago.
Considering the fact that prior to this season, Emerson had made just 15 league appearances for the west Londoners in two seasons, the 25-year-old will surely be delighted to have finally broken through to the first-team on a regular basis.
The Italy international will now look to continue with his impressive form – which has seen him average 3.8 tackles per game so far – when he returns to league action for his club later this week.
