Chelsea fans online have been calling for their side to sign a new forward, but it’s not the one that the club are apparently targeting. According to the Express, Chelsea are keen on a move for Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain, with Maurizio Sarri apparently eager to link up with his former forward.
However, likely given his mixed form last season and his age, Chelsea fans don’t seem to be desperate to land him. Instead, they want their club to sign his Serie A rival Mauro Icardi.
Currently the captain of Inter Milan, Icardi has proven his worth as one of the deadliest finishers around. He bagged a stunning 29 league goals last season, earmarking him as one of Europe’s best. Furthermore, he’s also got age on his side in comparison to Gonzalo Higuain – given that he’s just 25-years-old.
Plenty of Chelsea fans have clearly recognised all of that, as on Twitter, there’s only one name on their lips. They’ve got no interest in Higuain, with Icardi a very popular man.
