Juventus have long been known as experts when it comes to signing players on a free transfer.
Over the years, the Serie A titans have picked up the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Dani Alves, Fabio Cannavaro, Paul Pogba and most recently Aaron Ramsey on Bosman deals upon the expiry of their respective contracts. Now, the Italians are reportedly eyeing up another player – Chelsea’s Willian.
According to TuttoSport (via @TheBlues), Juve boss Maurizio Sarri is keeping tabs on the Brazilian wide man – who he managed at Chelsea last season – and is allegedly keen on bringing him in on a free next summer when his current deal at Stamford Bridge expires.
With Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Pedro and the returning Callum Hudson-Odoi all available to current Blues boss Frank Lampard in attacking midfield, Willian is not now deemed a necessity in west London – especially considering his impact this season has been poor, with no goals or assists in six appearances for the club so far, per Transfermarkt.
Here’s how some Chelsea fans reacted to the news that Willian could be departing the club next summer:
