Chelsea: Michael Brown believes John Stones would be a ‘fantastic signing’ for Blues

Former Tottenham man Michael Brown has spoken out after reports have linked John Stones to a potential London move to Chelsea.
According to Football Insider, the Blues are eyeing up the England international after he has fallen drastically down the pecking order at City. Now, Brown has heaped praise on Stones and believes he would be a great fit for the Blues.

“The answer would be for me, if Chelsea can get John Stones then it would be a fantastic signing for them,” the ex-midfielder told Football Insider. “Ultimately he’s a Manchester City player and I still think he has a big role at City.”
The 26-year-old has been limited to just 24 appearances across all competitions this season and has made only 12 Premier League starts (via Transfermarkt). Pep Guardiola seems to prefer a centre-back partnership between Aymeric Laporte and Eric Garcia, which leaves Stones left to gather dust.
Chelsea are reportedly looking to bolster their options in defence and a centre-half could be their first port of call. No transfer fee has been revealed for a potential swoop for Stones, but he is currently valued at £32.4million.
“I think if he gets himself right, he’s a great talent, a great character and on the ball there is nobody better than John Stones,” Brown concluded.
Frank Lampard has already welcomed attacking additions Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to the squad, now he must start considering how to best to recruit in defence.
