Time in West London could be up for Emerson Palmieri as his agent breaks his silence over his status with the club.
The Italian defender has been staring down the barrel of Frank Lampard’s gun amid a ruthless, transitional transfer window. Both he and Marcos Alonso have been linked to moves away from Stamford Bridge and the arrival of Ben Chilwell could be the tipping point for one – if not both – of them.
Will Ben Chilwell be a good signing for Chelsea?
According to Italian outlet fcinter1908.it (via Sport Witness), agent Fernando Garcia feels it is a ‘possibility’ that Emerson will leave Chelsea this year.
“I haven’t talked to the London club yet. I can only say that Inter are interested in the player. We’ll see,” Garcia said.
Lampard has made his intentions clear with his current squad as he chases new luxury signings to help bolster the team. The Chelsea legend will be wanting to challenge for every competition this season and he must be well-equipped to do so.
Along with Chilwell, the Blues have also welcomed Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Thiago Silva through the door. A deal for Kai Havertz is also nearing completion, with just the final details to be wrapped up.
Emerson struggled for game time last campaign, making just 15 Premier League appearances with only 11 being starts (via Transfermarkt). With Inter Milan looking to add him to their ranks, it’s likely to be just a matter of time before Lampard can cash in on the £21.6million-valued left-back and potentially make another big money signing.
The 43-year-old is eyeing a swoop for West Ham’s Declan Rice, who Roman Abramovich has urged Chelsea to spend a minimum of £50million on.
