Chelsea had a torrid Saturday evening as they not only lost out on the FA Cup, but watched three senior players suffer injuries.
The 2-1 victory for Arsenal wasn’t the only thing that dampened the Blues’ evening. Captain Cesar Azpilicueta and star player Christian Pulisic were forced off the pitch with hamstring injuries. Pedro was similarly stretchered off after a suspected dislocated shoulder.

The Wembley trio join the likes of Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour to suffer serious injuries this season. According to Football Insider, the players have pinned the reason down to Frank Lampard’s excessive training.
As per the report, some of the first team aren’t happy with the training sessions and feel they are being worked too hard at Cobham. Indeed, an alarming total of ten senior players have missed three or more consecutive matches this campaign in the Premier League alone (via Transfermarkt).
Chelsea’s 2019/20 season is still not over either. The Blues are due to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash. It’s likely Lampard will be without Pulisic, who looked in considerable pain coming off the pitch against Arsenal.
“We were below par,” the 42-year-old said in his post-match presser. “Two hamstrings, one dislocated shoulder, we lost Willian yesterday, [N’Golo] Kante was not fit for this game, it was only if we needed him and Ruben Loftus-Cheek was out.
“We’re at the end of a long season – it’s not an excuse, but it felt like it came to a tipping point a bit today.”
