Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are surprised to see a familiar name linked with a January move to their club, as the Blues eye new strikers to breath life into a disastrous campaign.
ESPN suggest former Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez is a possible target, with the Mexican forward being in fine-form following a summer switch to Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.
27-year-old Hernandez has scored 12 goals in 19 games for club and country this season, with Chelsea believing his experience of Premier League football could be crucial to their ambitions of turning their woeful season around.
However, persuading Leverkusen to part-ways with their key player could prove problematic- especially with the Mexican international having only arrived in Germany a few months ago.
Chelsea would have to pay over the odds for the forward, something they possess the ability to do, but they may look elsewhere in their quest to provide competition for Diego Costa; with Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy both uninspiring.
