Chelsea’s Jaw Dropping £58M Deal Will Test Levy’s Resolve

Chelsea have reignited their interest in Tottenham’s want away midfield maestro Luka Modric. The south-west London club are desperate to land the Croatian playmaker, with Caughtoffside.com reporting that the blues will offer £28m plus Michael Essien, who has a market value of over £30m in a sensational bid as they continue to pursue their man.

Spur’s chairman Daniel Levvy previously buffeted Chelsea’s previous offer of £22m, insisting that the 26 year-old is ‘not for sale at any price’.

According to reports in The Metro the midfield star is keen to join Chelsea after admitting his desire to join a ‘bigger club’ to challenge for honours. Another major factor is the players preference to stay in the capital.

The red side of Manchester have also been linked with the former Dinamo Zagreb man. Ferguson has long been an admirer of Modric with The Daily star reporting that the red devil’s will offer £18m plus Berbatov in the hope of sealing the deal.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is reluctant to sell the star man and sees him as the integral player in challenging for a Champions League spot next season. While Gareth Bale has been grabbing all the headlines for his barrelling runs down the left wing, it’s Modric who has been the key man in the way Spurs play. The little magicians passing and vision has provided Bale with the kind of service he can exploit.

Modric’s own come and get me plea to Chelsea is likely to mean the Blues wont stop till they land their man. Whatever the outcome the inevitable sale of the Croat will see a considerable return on their investment.
