Glasgow Rangers: Gers interested in Pedro Chirivella

Glasgow Rangers are said to be interested in taking Pedro Chirivella to the Scottish Premiership this summer, according to The Transfer Window Podcast.

Chirivella currently plies his trade at Liverpool, where his contract is set to run out at the end of the season.

He has been linked with a move to Nantes in Ligue 1 primarily (as per Daily Mail) but Duncan Castles has said that Steven Gerrard, who used to be a teammate of the 22-year-old, is said to have an eye on him.

Before this campaign, the Spaniard’s stock at Anfield was rather low. He had actually not even featured for the Reds since the 2015/16 season, instead spending time on loan at the likes of Willem II and Go Ahead Eagles.

However, the Anfield outfit’s packed schedule this term has given him the opportunity to feature far more often. He has made six appearances already this term, with three apiece coming in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup (as per TransferMarkt). In fact, he even pulled on the captain’s armband against Aston Villa in the latter.

He has not done enough to be a regular first-team member at Anfield but he has shown that he has plenty of ability, while he clearly has talent – in the past, he has been compared to Xabi Alonso and Sergio Busquets. He could surely do a job for Gerrard in Scotland and, on a free transfer, it would be an absolute bargain. Ross Wilson and the Gers’ hierarchy should do all they can to take him to Ibrox.
