It’s been a crazy day for the Crystal Palace fans here in the Transfer Tavern, who have watched Frank de Boer sacked after only four games in charge.
The Dutchman proved a divisive figure amongst our resident Eagles during his short stint in charge at Selhurst Park and, while four losses in a row looked back, surely should have been given more time by top brass in south London.
Indeed, that’s a view shared by typically outspoken BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton. The former Celtic and Chelsea striker took to Twitter to criticise Palace chairman Steve Parish for axing the former Ajax and Inter Milan coach so soon.
He believes Parish has treated De Boer ‘appallingly’ after he called for unity on Twitter, only to sack the man a few hours later.

With Roy Hodgson reportedly being lined up as a replacement, the Palace fans propping up our bar are inclined to agree, though do concede another few losses would have made De Boer’s position untenable.

Landlord’s Verdict:
Palace certainly do have the players to get them out of the position they’re currently in, so perhaps De Boer should have been handed more time.
His project at Selhurst Park was never going to be an overnight one and their performance vs Burnley was certainly promising.
