The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have perhaps the most fearsome frontline in the Premier League to shout about these days as the Jurgen Klopp effect takes over at Anfield.
Still, our Merseyside locals have been rocked following confirmation from the club’s official site.
Danny Ings has reportedly suffered ANOTHER big injury blow after a knee problem picked up in the EFL Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur last week.
The England international missed pretty much the entirety of the last campaign after cruciate ligament damage picked up in training and has now reportedly suffered a similar ailment to his other knee.
The Daily Telegraph has stated that the former Burnley forward is one of the most popular players in Klopp’s squad and is distraught at the prospect of missing another seven months.
He’s believed to be in London seeing a specialist ahead of an operation as his nightmare on Merseyside continues.
“To say we are gutted would be an understatement; he is such a great boy and has worked so hard that he deserves better luck than this”, said Klopp to LiverpoolFC.com.
“It is typical of Danny’s personality, on and off the pitch, that he picked up this injury to his knee when courageously trying to win the ball back for his team by making a tackle.
“But it is this same personality that means he will come back as good and as strong from this latest setback as he has done in the past.
“I’m told the likely lay off is anywhere from between seven to nine months. He is mentally strong, physically strong and will have the very best treatment and rehab possible to make sure when he returns he is ready to play for us at the level we know he is capable of.”
