Ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich this evening, Gunners patrons in the Transfer Tavern have almost come to blows over who should start between the sticks.
David Ospina is expected to get the nod, having established himself as Arsenal’s cup goalkeeper since signing from Nice in 2014, but the Colombian international conceded five goals last time out against the German champions.
And reports from Mirror Football claim a chunk of the Arsenal dressing room want Petr Cech to start instead, having made 120 appearances in Europe throughout an illustrious career.
At the same time, Mirror Football believe Cech is unhappy with exclusion from the Champions League this season, whilst The Times report that Ospina wants to leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer because he’s not been given chances in the Premier League.
So in a nutshell, Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation appears to have disintegrated into an absolute mess. And perhaps highlighting how everybody seems a bit confused by it, opinion on Twitter – as well as in the Transfer Tavern – is completely divided ahead of tonight’s game.
Some are in the Cech camp, others are team Ospina. Many reckon it’s time to get rid of both and a few are even suggesting an anti-Arsenal conspiracy amongst the media…
