It’s been a great pre-season thus far for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern.

Results on the field have matches the ambition shown of the field with the most recent 3-0 win over rivals Arsenal, which saw the Blues gain a bit of revenge following the Gunners triumph in the FA Cup final at the end of last season.

This was followed by a narrow 3-2 defeat against Bayern Munich but the signs are certainly positive for when the team return to Stamford Bridge.

Off the field, the signings of Alvaro Morata and Tiemoué Bakayoko have really shown Antonio Conte’s intent for the new season despite the certainty of Diego Costa leaving the club in the very near future.

Morata especially has pleased the Blues in the Tavern with his arrival following the initial disappointment of missing out on Romelu Lukaku.

Alongside all the signings, the Chelsea fans are also looking towards the new season and have been discussing their current squad as the consume many pints in the Tavern.

Much of the discussion in aimed towards Saturday’s friendly against Inter Milan in Singapore.

It is a debate that has picked up pace and the Blues in the Tavern have outlined the two players they’d like to see have a run out against the Italian side.

The Blues have not yet seen their new man in action following his move from Roma earlier in the transfer window, and our landlord believes that Inter would be great opponents to ease Rudiger into the Chelsea squad due to his knowledge of Serie A.

The German has built a lot of anticipation among the Blues in the Tavern and they cannot wait to see their new man in action.

Charly Musonda

With Eden Hazard still out injured and Pedro back from the tour recovering, our landlord feels Conte has too explore his options in wide areas in what is left of his pre-season matches.

Musonda is certainly a candidate to feature against Inter with Conte choosing not to loan him out just yet and if given the chance, the Belgium U21 international could really stake his claim as an understudy to Hazard, Pedro and Willian for the upcoming season.
